Geyselaers tabbed Rookie Field Athlete of the Week

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Fresh off a pair of first place finishes, Plymouth State University women's outdoor track & field athlete Emily Geyselaers (Cornwall Bridge, Conn.) was selected by the Little East Conference (LEC) as one of the league's weekly award winners.

Geyselaers was named the LEC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Field Rookie of the Week after a strong showing at the Sunshine Classic at Tufts University on Saturday.

Geyselaers won individual titles in the 200-meter dash and long jump, as well as taking third in the high jump, while meeting qualifying standards for the upcoming NCAA Division III New England Championships in all three events.

In the 200-meter dash she established a new program record, crossing the line in 26.13 seconds. Her time topped the previous mark by 0.86 seconds and is currently the 22nd fastest in all of New England.

She claimed the long jump title as well, covering a personal-best 5.21 meters – a distance that also ranks among the top-25 in New England, while high jump mark of 1.55 meters was also a personal best and tied for the 20th best in the region.

Geyselaers is enjoying an incredible rookie season, having also qualified for New England's in the triple jump, becoming the first woman in program history to qualify in four different events.

The Panthers head to Fitchburg State University on Saturday (Apr. 27) for the Little East Conference Championship.
