Wescott named Track Rookie of the Week following LEC Championships

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – After helping lead the Plymouth State University women's outdoor track & field team to a program-best finish at the Little East Conference (LEC) Championships at Fitchburg State University on Saturday, a member of the team was selected for weekly recognition by the conference office.

Freshman Hannah Wescott (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) was chosen as the LEC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Track Rookie of the Week after posting top-three finishes in each of her three events.

Wescott captured the first LEC title of her career in the 100-meter hurdles. She posted the top in the preliminaries (15.94 seconds) and followed up with a 16.31 in the finals to capture the crown. She also finished second in the high jump after clearing 1.55 meters and grabbed a third place finish in the pole vault after topping out at 2.65 meters.

Wescott has had a spectacular rookie campaign and now holds four outdoor school records; 100-meter hurdles (15.63), high jump (1.58 meters), pole vault (2.95 meters) and heptathlon (3,833). Her heptathlon point total is currently among the top-50 in the country.

Wescott and the rest of the Panthers will be competing at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships at Williams College this weekend. Wescott will contend in the heptathlon starting Friday (May 3), while the while the rest of the team will join her Saturday.
