Wescott tabbed Field Rookie of the Week after record-setting performance

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – One of the top student-athletes on the Plymouth State University women's outdoor track & field team garnered Little East Conference (LEC) recognition after a record-setting performance at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship meet at Williams College over the weekend.

Freshman Hannah Wescott (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) picked up her third weekly honor of the spring after being named the LEC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie Field Athlete of the Week following a superb showing at regionals.

Competing in the heptathlon, Wescott set two school records, narrowly missed out on a third and posted three personal bests. She topped her own program record in the 100m hurdles after finishing in 15.28 seconds and added personal bests in the 200m dash (26.57), 800m run (2:45.21) and long jump (4.93 meters). Her high jump mark of 1.57 meters was just 0.01 meters shy of her school record best, while her combined point total (4,051) also set a new program standard and ranks 46th in the nation.

Wescott and the Panthers wrapped up a successful campaign at the regional championships. PSU accumulated a program record 58 points at the LEC Championships and posted the highest finish – fifth place – in program history. In addition, new program records were established in eight different events.
