PSC Volleyball knocks off St. Michael's in Homecoming contest

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - With the match tied a one game apiece, Plymouth State College's women's volleyball team took the next two games convincingly for a 15-13, 14-16, 15-0, 15-6 win over St. Michael's College Sunday at Foley Gymnasium.

The Homecoming Weekend victory was the eighth-in-a-row for the Plymouth State, and improves the team to 9-4 overall..

St. Michael's, which clawed back to tie match after being down 14-11 in the second game, ran out of gas as the Panthers outscored the Lady Knights 30-6 over the final two games.

In game one, with the Panthers down 13-9, Anna Lingelbach (Center Harbor) and Stephanie Spiridakis (Belmont) helped seal the PSC comeback with timely serving and hitting. The Panthers scored the final six points to win the game.

Plymouth State was led by Jill Langis (Farmington) and Margo Imbornone (Westwood, MA) who registered 13 and 11 kills, respectively, while Spiridakis added 22 assists in the winning cause. Imbornone was named Homecoming MVP for her performance on the afternoon.

PSC, which improves to 9-4 on the season, is off until next weekend when it participates in the Bates College Tournament on Friday and Saturday, October 2-3. St. Michaels falls to 0-7 on the season.
