Panthers sweep Green Mtn. in home opener

PLYMOUTH, N.H.-- Plymouth State College rode the tenacious net play of freshman Becky Landry (Nashua) to easily defeat Green Mountain College, Tuesday, 15-11, 15-5, 15-10 at Foley Gymnasium.

The Panthers, were down 11-10 in the first game of the match when Carin LaValley (Northfield) came up with four straight service aces helping PSC regain control of the game. Green Mountain had leads throughout the third game of the match but could not compete with the much bigger Plymouth team.

Landry, who had 12 kills and three service aces, led PSC. Freshman Bryce Budzinsky (Killingworth, CT) added five kills to aid in the winning cause.

Plymouth State, which improves to 3-1 on the season, returns to action on Thursday when it travels to New London, N.H. for a match with Colby-Sawyer College.

Green Mountain drops to 1-4.
