PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The leading hitter on the Plymouth State College women's volleyball team has been honored by the Little East Conference for her play in five Panther matches last week.
Sophomore Carin LaValley (Northfield, NH), who was the LEC Player of the Week once last month, was selected to the Honor Roll this week. She helped the Panthers to victories over Endicott and Coast Guard in the Eastern Connecticut Invitational over the weekend.
A 5'5" outside hitter, LaValley posted a "double-double" in four of PSC's five matches, reaching double figures in a match in both kills and digs. She was selected to the All-Tournament Team at ECSU, the third time this season she has been on an All-Tourney Team. LaValley racked up 66 kills, six aces and 77 digs in PSC's five matches, leading the team in kills three times and in digs four times.
A First Team All-LEC selection as a freshman in 1999, LaValley leads the conference this season in kills (3.07 per game) and ranks seventh in service aces (0.51 per game) and ninth in hitting percentage (.250).
PSC, 13-9 overall, returns home for a non-conference match Tuesday (Oct. 10) at Foley Gymnasium against St. Michael's (7 p.m.), then travels to Regis on Saturday (Oct. 14) for a 1 p.m. encounter.
