PLYMOUTH, N.H. - A freshmen on the Plymouth State College women's volleyball team has received one of the top honors from the Little East Conference for her play in two Panther matches last week.
Freshman Bryce Budzinsky (Killingworth, Conn.) was selected LEC Rookie of the Week after leading the Panthers to a pair of victories last week. She is the second Panther volleyball player to earn the top rookie honor this season, joining fellow freshman Becky Landry (Nashua, NH).
Budzinsky has come on in recent weeks, helping PSC improve to 15-9 overall. She was instrumental in helping the Panthers to three-game victories over St. Michael's last Tuesday and Regis College on Saturday.
A 5'10" middle/outside hitter, Budzinsky averaged 4.83 kills per game in the two matches. She hit 29 winners at a .461 attack percentage, while adding four digs and one block. She recorded a season-high 17 kills against St. Michael's, and added 12 more at Regis. Budzinsky ranks sixth in the conference in hitting percentage (.271).
PSC returns to Foley Gymnasium this Thursday (Oct. 19) to host St. Joseph's College (7 p.m.), then faces Eastern Connecticut and Rhode Island College Saturday (Oct. 21) in a Little East Conference round-robin, hosted by RIC (1 p.m.).
