PLYMOUTH, N.H. - One of the co-captains on the Plymouth State College volleyball team was honored by the Little East Conference Monday for her performance in PSC's season-opening tournament last weekend at Western New England College.
Junior outside hitter Carin LaValley (Northfield, N.H.) was named to the LEC Weekly Honor Roll. It is the seventh time in her career that LaValley has received a weekly honor from the Little East.
A 5'6" co-captain, LaValley helped PSC to a second-place finish at the WNEC Invitational, earning a selection to the All-Tournament Team, along with fellow co-captain Jessie O'Hearn (Tilton, N.H.). PSC registered consecutive victories over WNEC, Pine Manor and Southern New Hampshire before falling to Williams College in the championship match.
For the tournament, LaValley recorded 42 kills, 18 service aces and 47 digs, leading the team in all three departments. She was PSC's top hitter against Pine Manor and Williams, and led the squad in digs in three of the four matches. She is currently sixth in the conference in both kills (3.00/game) and digs (3.36), and fourth in aces (1.29).
LaValley is a two-time selection to the All-Little East Conference First Team.
Plymouth State, 3-1 overall, returns home to play in the home opener and the LEC opener this weekend (Sept. 14-15) at Foley Gymnasium. PSC will host an LEC round robin, beginning Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m.
