PSC has little trouble with UMB
BOSTON, Mass. - Plymouth State College had little trouble in registering a 3-0 women's volleyball victory over the University of Massachusetts Boston Wednesday evening, defeating the Beacons 30-5, 30-18, 30-23 in a Little East Conference match at the Clark Athletic Center.
The win improves the Panthers to 15-2 overall and 3-1 in LEC play, while the Beacons drop to 2-9 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
Plymouth State was led by junior middle hitter Becky Landry (Nashua, N.H.), who smashed 11 kills and recorded a match-high seven services. Freshman outside hitter Kelly Landry (Nashua, N.H.) did her part for the Panthers with 10 kills, and senior setter Jessie O'Hearn (Tilton, N.H.) served up three aces while registering 16 assists.
UMass Boston was led by senior middle blocker Laurel Smith (Holliston, Mass.), who had seven kills and six digs, and freshman outside hitter Stephanie Adams (Whitman, Mass.), who contributed six kills, eight digs, and two aces. Senior setter Melissa Hales (Lexington, Mass.) posted 11 assists, eight digs ad three aces.
PSC will be back in action Friday and Saturday (Oct. 4-5) at the Bates Tournament in Lewiston, Maine.
