PSC routs Salem State in home finale
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Plymouth State College, playing in its last regular season home match, defeated Salem State College Tuesday in three games, 30-15, 30-23, 30-23, in a non-conference women's volleyball contest at Foley Gymnasium.
The win, PSC's fifth in as many career meetings against the Vikings, improves the Panthers to 24-6 overall, which sets a school record for victories in a season. Salem State drops to 15-6.
The Panthers were led by freshman Kelly Landry (Nashua, N.H.), senior Becky Landry (Nashua, NH), and junior Sonia Trudell (Somersworth, N.H.) who combined for 28 kills, with Kelly Landry leading the way with 13. Senior setter Jessie O'Hearn (Tilton, N.H.), in her final home match, added 35 assists and three service aces.
Salem State (15-6) was led by Kristen Dowling (Chelmsford, Mass.), Estrella Kuilan (Lowell, Mass.) and Katelyn Heinstrom (Reading, Mass.) who had seven, five and three kills, respectively.
The Panthers finish their regular season this Friday and Saturday (Nov. 1-2) when they travel to Waltham, Mass. for the Brandeis Tournament. PSC, which clinched second place in the Little East Conference, will receive a first round by in the LEC Tournament beginning Nov. 6.
