PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The senior captain on the Plymouth State College women’s volleyball team has been selected to participate in the New England Senior All-Star Classic this weekend in Worcester, Mass.
Senior Jessie O’Hearn (Tilton, N.H./Winnisquam) will represent the Panthers this Sunday, Nov. 17, in the NEWVA Senior Classic, hosted by Clark University. The event is held in conjunction with the New England Women’s Volleyball Association’s annual meeting.
A four-year veteran and three-year starting setter for the Panthers, O’Hearn was named First Team All-Little East Conference earlier this week. She ranked third in the LEC in assists (9.20 per game), and is the owner of all of PSC’s single-match, single-season and career records for set assists.
O’Hearn ran the offense on a Panther squad that has set a school record for wins in a season, posting a 25-10 record to date. She helped PSC finish runner-up in the LEC in the regular season, posting a 6-1 mark in conference play.
O’Hearn has more volleyball to play before Sunday’s All-Star match. PSC has received its first post-season berth in the program’s seven-year history, and will host the ECAC Division III North Tournament this weekend at Foley Gymnasium. The first match for the seventh-seeded Panthers is Friday at 7:00 p.m. against second-seeded Coast Guard.
The ECAC Tournament semifinals are at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Saturday, with the championship match slated for 3 p.m. All tournament matches are free of charge.
