PSU Volleyball sweeps Saint Josephs
STANDISH, Maine - The Plymouth State University women's volleyball team spoiled Senior Night at Saint Joseph's College Thursday evening, sweeping the Monks in three games (30-20, 30-12, 30-21) in a non-conference match.
Plymouth State, which has climbed to seventh in the New England rankings, improves to 21-5 overall while Saint Joseph's drops to 5-15.
It was the trio of seniors Becky Landry (Nashua, N.H.) and Sonia Trudell (Somersworth, N.H.) and sophomore Kelly Landry (Nashua, N.H.) that did most of the damage for the Panthers. Becky Landry had 10 kills and no errors in 19 attempts; Kelly Landry added 10 kills and only one error in 16 attempts, and Trudell contributed eight kills and only one error in 11 attempts. Trudell also led the team with 11 digs.
Sophomore setter Amanda Bagwell (Riverside, R.I.) ran the Panther offense and finished with 37 assists.
Plymouth State is idle for the next week, returning to action next Thursday (10/23) against Middlebury in the final home match of the regular season (7:00 p.m.).
