Landry leads PSU Volleyball past UMass BostonBOSTON, Mass.
- Junior Kelly Landry (Nashua, N.H.) smashed 10 kills and served up four aces Wednesday evening to lead the Plymouth State University volleyball team over the University of Massachusetts Boston in a Little East Conference women's volleyball match, 30-23, 30-5, 30-23, at the Clark Athletic Center.
Landry also added a team-high six digs to help the Panthers improve to 14-5 overall and 4-1 in conference play. The Beacons fall to 2-6 overall and 0-4 in the LEC.
Plymouth State took the first game 30-23 and dominated the second, 30-5, to take a 2-0 lead in the match. UMass Boston looked to be in control of the third frame with a 19-12 advantage, but the Panthers roared back, scoring 11 of the next 12 points, with eight coming while freshman Kaitlyn Collins (Mahwah, N.J.) was serving, to assume a 23-20 lead before taking the match.
Collins fired five aces for Plymouth State, while junior Becky Ciulla (Chelmsford, Mass.) put down six kills, served for three aces and added four digs. Junior Amanda Bagwell (Riverside, R.I.) led all playmakers with 15 assists and also collected three digs.
Junior Stephanie Adams (Whitman, Mass.) led the Beacons with five kills and three aces. Freshman Erin Towne (East Taunton, Mass.) contributed with five kills and six digs, while freshman Denise M. Hill (Toa Baja, P.R.) spiked for four kills while scooping seven digs.
PSU competes this weekend in the Bates Tournament in Lewiston, Maine, while UMB returns to action this weekend at the Salem State Tournament.
