BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Plymouth State University rebounded from a rough outcome Friday evening with a pair of victories Saturday afternoon at the BSC Volleyball Open, hosted by Bridgewater State College.
The Panthers, who lost two matches in pool play Friday evening, ended up winning the Bronze Bracket Saturday, defeating Clark University in four games (33-31, 30-21, 25-30, 24-32) and edging Little East Conference rival Rhode Island College in a grueling five-game match (24-30, 17-30, 32-30, 32-30, 15-10). PSU wraps up the weekend with a 12-5 overall record.
Host Bridgewater State defeated Johnson & Wales and Rivier College to win the Gold Bracket, while Conn. College, Elmira and Fairleigh Dickinson all finished 1-1 in the Silver Bracket.
Sophomore defensive specialist Kim Tobyne (Bedford, N.H./West) highlighted play for the Panthers, and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
PSU returns to Little East Conference action Wednesday with a home match against UMass Boston (6:00 p.m.) at Foley Gymnasium.
