PSU Volleyball rebounds to win twice at Bates Invitational

LEWISTON, Maine - Rebounding from a pair of losses Friday evening to two of New England's top teams, the Plymouth State University women's volleyball team registered a pair of victories Saturday at the Bates College Invitational to finish the tournament with a 2-2 record.

The Panthers, who are ranked 11th in New England, swept Worcester State College Saturday morning (30-22, 30-24, 30-15), and came back to sweep Bates in the afternoon (30-23, 30-28, 30-18). PSU completes the weekend with a 15-7 overall record, while WSC is now 9-9 and Bates is 3-12.

Senior Becky Ciulla (Chelmsford, Mass.) earned top honors for PSU by being selected to the All-Tournament Team, her second such honor this season. Sophomore libero Kim Tobyne (Bedford, N.H.) also completed an outstanding tournament, finishing with 108 digs in the four matches.

Plymouth State came back with a strong effort on Saturday after falling Friday evening in four games to Springfield College, the eighth-ranked team in New England, and in three games to third-ranked Colby College.

PSU returns to Little East Conference action Tuesday with a match at UMass Dartmouth (6:00 p.m.)
