PSU Volleyball players named to Senior All-Star game
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - More post-season honors have come in for three members of the Plymouth State University women's volleyball team.
Senior middle hitter Becky Ciulla (Chelmsford, Mass.) senior outside hitter Kelly Landry (Nashua, N.H.) and senior setter Amanda Bagwell (Riverside, R.I.) have been chosen to represent Plymouth State at the New England Women's Volleyball Association Senior All-Star Classic, which will be held at Clark University this Sunday (Nov. 13). All three Panthers were named First Team All-Little East Conference earlier this week, and Ciulla was voted LEC Offensive Player of the Year.
A 5'9" middle hitter, Ciulla led the LEC in kills (499) and ranked second in hitting percentage (.278). She also contributed 154 blocks, which was second in the league, and her 491 digs ranked fifth. Ciulla owns the PSU single-season and career records for blocks (331), and ranks fourth on the Panther career list with 1,159 kills, despite playing only three years at Plymouth State after transferring from Eastern Connecticut.
A 5'8" outside hitter, Landry ranks among the LEC leaders this fall in kills (417) and digs (524). She is one of only two players in school history with more than 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs, as she has a record 1,672 kills and 1,348 digs (third-most in school history). Landry is holder of several school records, including service aces in a match (16), single-season kills (560), and career kills. She was the 2004 LEC Offensive Player of the Year.
A 5'4" setter, Bagwell led the conference in assists for the third straight season, setting up kills at 9.77 per game. She set the PSU career assist mark earlier this season, and now owns school records for assists in a match (65), season (1,419) and career (4,071). She was named to the All-Tournament Team at Plymouth State's Cobblestone Inn Tournament in September, and she is a Dean's List and President's List student.
PSU, 22-16 overall, has earned its fourth straight post-season berth, and will face Roger Williams Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the first round of the ECAC Division III New England Tournament, hosted by the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.
