PSU Womens Volleyball holds off Keene State
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The Plymouth State University and Keene State College women's volleyball teams battled for over two hours Tuesday evening, with the host Panthers pulling out a four-game victory (25-30, 31-29, 32-30, 31-29) in a key Little East Conference match at Foley Gymnasium.
The Panthers stopped a three-match losing streak and improved to 10-6 overall, while Keene State had its five-match winning streak stopped and fell to 15-6. The two teams are now tied for second place in the LEC, both with 3-2 conference records.
Freshman Eliza Badeau (Foster, R.I.) and junior Kaitlyn Collins (Mahwah, N.J.) led the Panthers with 13 kills apiece, while sophomores Michaela Del Rosso (East Providence, R.I.) and Regan Bowlen (Portsmouth, N.H.) added 11 kills each. Sophomore libero Sarah Spears (Meredith, N.H.) contributed 25 digs, and freshman setter Brianna Kleckner (Terryville, Conn.) recorded a season-high 55 assists.
The Owls were led by sophomore Brittany O'Bryant (Merrimack, N.H.), who had 20 kills, 18 digs and four blocks. Sophomore Sarah Peterson (Danville, N.H.) and senior Genna Florkowski (East Northport, N.Y.) contributed 23 and 20 digs, respectively, and junior Kelly Yankowski (Turnersfall, Mass.) and freshman Mia Silvestri (Herrick Center, Pa.) chipped in with eight kills apiece.
Both teams are back in action this Saturday at Springfield College for the Tom Hay Invitational.
