Plymouth State Volleyball falls at Middlebury
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Plymouth State University women's volleyball team had a four-match winning streak snapped Wednesday night with a 3-1 loss to Middlebury College in a non-conference match-up. Middlebury won the match 30-16, 30-25, 30-32, 30-17 and moved to 11-9 overall while PSU fell to 14-9.
The Middlebury Panthers received contributions from several players, including Lexi Fisher, who had 19 kills and 17 digs on the night. Josie Keller added eight kills, while Lacee Patterson and Kelly Nichols had six apiece. Olivia Minkhorst had 25 digs in the win, while Patterson dished out 47 assists.
Freshman Eliza Badeau (Foster, R.I.) led the PSU Panthers with 12 kills and three blocks. Sophomore Michaela Del Rosso (East Providence, R.I.) and freshman Kathy Frankowski (Unionville, Conn.) added eight and seven kills, respectively, and sophomore Sarah Spears (Meredith, N.H.) contributed 20 digs and a team-high five service aces.
PSU returns to action Saturday with a pair of key matches at a Little East Conference round-robin at UMass Boston, its last two LEC matches of the regular season. The Panthers, 3-2 in conference play, will meet UMB at 12 noon followed by a match against UMass Dartmouth. UMB is 1-2 in the LEC and UMD is 0-3.
