PSU Womens Volleyball sweeps Middlebury
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Plymouth State University used a balanced attack Wednesday evening to defeat the Middlebury College Panthers, three games to none (30-26, 30-28, 30-22) in a non-conference women's volleyball match at Foley Gymnasium.
Sophomore Eliza Badeau (East Providence, R.I.) led the host Panthers, recording 13 kills and just two errors. Junior Regan Bowlen (Portsmouth, N.H.) and senior Kirsten Willoughby (Plymouth, N.H.) pounded out 10 kills apiece, and junior Wendy Dziedzic (Nashua, N.H.) added eight kills.
The home team got a strong performance from sophomore setter Brianna Kleckner (Terryville, Conn.), who distributed the ball and finished with 31 assists. She also contributed nine kills and 11 digs. Junior libero Sarah Spears (Meredith, N.H.) continued her strong play on the back row, making 15 digs and serving up a team-high three aces.
Senior Lexie Fisher (San Francisco, Cal.) led the visitors with 13 kills, while sophomore Natalie DuPre (Louisville, Ky.) added 21 digs and freshman setter Lauren Barrett (Medfield, Mass.) finished with 32 assists.
PSU, 16-7, plays its final regular season home matches of the season this Saturday at Foley Gymnasium in a Little East Conference round-robin. The Panthers will face UMass Boston at 12 p.m. and UMass Dartmouth at 4:00 p.m., with the two UMass schools meeting each other at 2:00 p.m. Middlebury, 13-7, will participate in the Hall of Fame Classic this Friday and Saturday at Smith College.
