PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The Little East Conference pre-season volleyball coaches' polls has been announced and Plymouth State University is picked to finish third in this year's race. The votes were cast by the conference's head coaches, and the poll was released by LEC Commissioner Jonathan Harper.
The Panthers, who have finished third in the LEC the past two seasons after sharing the regular season titles in 2004 and 2005, received one first-place vote and 36 points. Defending champion Keene State College earned the top spot in the poll with four first-place votes and 43 points, while Western Connecticut State University edged PSU for second place with one top vote and 37 points. Rhode Island College received the final first-place vote and finished fourth in the poll with 31 points, while UMass Boston (23 points), Eastern Connecticut (20) and UMass Dartmouth (13) rounded out the poll.
The LEC volleyball regular season schedule includes one match against the other six schools in the conference. The conference tournament is the first week in November, with the LEC champion receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
