PSU Volleyball player earns top weekly conference honor
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The top middle hitter on the Plymouth State University women's volleyball team was honored Monday with one of the top weekly honors from the Little East Conference.
Senior Eliza Badeau (Foster, R.I./Ponaganset) was named LEC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in three Panther victories last week. She helped PSU defeat Colby-Sawyer in a non-conference road match on Wednesday, and led the Panthers to a sweep over Eastern Connecticut State University and Rhode Island College in the first LEC matches of the season last Saturday.
A 6'0" co-captain, Badeau (right) recorded an amazing .516 attack percentage last week, leading the Panthers to the 3-0 week. She did not record a hitting error in the two LEC victories, making 23 kills in 36 attempts in a win over Eastern Connecticut and adding 20 kills in 26 attempts in the victory over RIC. She also added three service aces nine blocks in the three matches.
A three-time All-LEC Second Team selection, Badeau currently leads the Little East in attack percentage (.541) and kills (4.35 per game).
PSU, 11-0 overall and off to the second-best start in the program's 14-year history, plays three home matches this week at Foley Gymnasium. The Panthers will host Rivier College in a non-conference match on Tuesday (6:00 p.m.), and will host Western Connecticut State University and the University of Southern Maine in LEC matches on Saturday (12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., respectively).
