PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Little East Conference pre-season women’s volleyball coaches’ poll has been announced and Plymouth State University is picked to finish fourth in this year’s race. The votes were cast by the conference’s head coaches.
The Panthers were voted fourth for the second year in a row, receiving 36 points in the poll. Defending LEC regular season and tournament champion University of Massachusetts Boston was the top pick in the poll, receiving seven first-place votes and 62 points. Western Connecticut State University (53 points) was runner-up in the poll and Keene State College (46) was third, garnering the remaining top vote. The bottom half of the poll incuded Eastern Connecticut State University (32), Rhode Island College (30), the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (20) and the University of Southern Maine (9).
Led by 13th-year head coach Moira Long, PSU finished second in the Little East last season with a 6-1 mark. The Panthers advanced to the championship match of both the LEC and ECAC New England Tournaments and finished with a 32-6 overall record, the most wins in a season in the program’s 14-year history.
The LEC volleyball regular season schedule includes one match against the other seven schools. The conference tournament is the first week in November, with the LEC champion receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
