Stoodley named First Team; Cady voted Second Team
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two starters on the
Plymouth State University women’s volleyball team were
recognized Tuesday with selections to the 2010 All-Little East
Conference Team.
Sophomore Casey Stoodley (Salem, N.H.) was named to the All-LEC First Team as an outside hitter, and junior Sarah Cady (Holliston, Mass.) was voted to the Second Team as a setter. It is the first post-season honor for both Panther stars. In addition, senior Kelsey Petty (Salem, N.H.) earned Honorable Mention for the New England Women’s Volleyball Senior Classic.
A 5’9” sophomore, Stoodley (right) took
over as the Panthers’ top hitter this season after
transferring from Southern New Hampshire University. She
ranks fourth in the LEC in kills (3.36 per set), tied for seventh
in digs (2.99 per set) and third in service aces (0.53 per
set). Stoodley has posted 15 double-doubles this season,
reaching double figures in a match in both kills and digs.
A 5’9” junior, Cady (left) took over as setter
this season after missing all of last year with injuries. She
ranked second in the Little East in assists with 8.53 per set,
while also contributing nearly two digs per set and a total of 46
blocks.
A 5’6” defensive specialist, Petty was the only senior on this year’s squad. She has played in all 31 matches, averaging 1.61 digs per set while contributing 21 service aces.
PSU, 18-13 overall, is the #3 seed in this week’s ECAC New England Tournament and begin play this Wednesday, Nov. 10, with a first round match at Foley Gymnasium against sixth-seeded University of New England (6:00 p.m.)
