PSU Volleyball splits pair at Endicott Inv.
Panthers down Salve but fall to Springfield
BEVERLY, Mass. – The Plymouth State University women's volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Endicott College Invitational on Friday, defeating Salve Regina University 3-1 in the afternoon match and falling to Williams College in the evening affair, 3-0.
The Panthers took the first two sets against Salve Regina, 25-19 and 25-22. The Seahawks pulled out the third set, 25-23, but PSU put the match away with a 25-18 verdict in the fourth set. The Panthers put up a strong challenge to Williams in the evening match, but the Ephs handed the Panthers a three-set defeat (26-24, 25-22, 25-20).
Three PSU hitters reached double figures in kills in the win over Salve -- sophomore Allie Jones with 13, junior Elissa Morin with 11 and junior Casey Stoodley with 10. Jones also served well, posting a team-high six aces. Sophomore Kaitlyn Tedeschi chipped in with six kills and senior Meghan Sullivan added five. Senior setter Sarah Cady recorded 33 assists,
Stoodley and Jones topped the Panthers in the win loss to Williams, recording 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Jones also continued her strong serving, registering a team-best four aces, and Cady added 29 assists.
PSU, 4-2 overall, plays two more matches in the tournament Saturday, facing Saint Mary's (Minn.) at 11:00 a.m. and Bowdoin College at 1:00 p.m.
