Stoodleys lead PSU Women's Volleyball past UMD

Panthers sweep Corsairs in LEC match

            NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Junior Casey Stoodley smashed a team-high 12 kills and senior Danielle Stoodley collected a team-high 21 digs Saturday afternoon as Plymouth State University posted an easy 3-0 sweep over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in a Little East Conference women's volleyball match at the Tripp Center.

            PSU cruised past the Corsairs in set one, 25-11.  UMD put up more of a fight in the second set, but the Panthers prevailed, 25-19, and then finished up the match with a 25-18 verdict in the third set.  Both teams are now 1-1 in conference play this season, with PSU moving to 6-5 overall and UMD dropping to 8-4.

            Casey Stoodley finished with a .360 attack percentage, with just three errors in 25 attempts.  Sophomore Allie Jones chipped in with nine kills and three service aces, and classmate Kaitlyn Tedeschi added six kills.  Junior Elissa Morin was a force at the net for the Panthers, making five blocks.

            The Panthers return home to host Colby-Sawyer College Tuesday at Foley Gymnasium (6:00 p.m.)
