Panthers post easy LEC win over Huskies
GORHAM, Maine – Junior outside hitter Casey Stoodley had six kills on seven attacks Tuesday night to lead the Plymouth State University Panthers to a 3-0 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference women's volleyball match at Hill Gymnasium.
The Panthers defeated the Huskies 25-4, 25-16 and 25-6 to earn their second straight victory and improve to 14-8 overall and 3-1 in the Little East Conference. With the loss, the Huskies remain winless on the season and fall to 0-14 and 0-4 in the LEC.
Stoodley added three service aces to help the Panthers, while freshman middle hitter Jana Nieman added five kills and a pair of block assists.
Southern Maine sophomore outside hitter Annie Mitchell and junior middle blocker Krista Keene each had two kills. Mitchell added 11 digs and a pair of service aces.
Plymouth State travels to St. Michael's College for a make-up match on Wednesday (7:00 p.m.). The evening features the return of PSU head coach Chris Kilmer to Saint Michael's, where he spent the past six years on the women's volleyball staff, including the last three as head coach.
