Women’s Volleyball falls to Middlebury

Vermont school wins battle of the Panthers

            MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Middlebury women's volleyball team had little trouble with Plymouth State University Wednesday evening, topping the Panthers 3-0 (25-9, 25-15, 25-19) in Pepin Gym.

            Megan Jarchow led a balanced Middlebury attack with 10 kills on the night, followed by Piper Underbrink (.455) and Amy Hart (.400) with five apiece. Kathryn Haderlein earned 32 assists in the match, while Underbrink picked up three total blocks. Caitlin Barrett paced the defense with 10 digs, followed by Julia Gibbs with six and Haderlein with five.

            Seniors Elissa Morin and Casey Stoodley each earned six kills for Plymouth State, with Morin owning a .750 hitting percentage. Cassie Pelton and Hannah Anderson had six digs apiece, while Anderson earned 13 assists.

             The Panthers of Middlebury improve to 15-5 on the season, and they return to action Friday and Saturday at the Hall of Fame Classic hosted by Smith and Mt. Holyoke. Plymouth State (11-15) is in action this Saturday at the Crabtree Invitational hosted by Eastern Connecticut.
