PSU Volleyball player named ECAC All-New England

Another post-season honor for Panther star Stoodley

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Another post-season honor was awarded to the top hitter on the Plymouth State University women's volleyball team Thursday when the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced the 2012 Division III All-Region teams.

Senior Casey Stoodley (Salem, N.H.) was named All-New England Second Team for the Panthers.  The recognition follows in line with previous honors Stoodley has accumulated this post-season, including First Team All-Little East Conference, First Team All-New England by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), and Second Team All-New England by the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA).

Stoodley posted double-doubles in 22 of PSU's 33 matches this season, reaching double figures in a match in both kills and digs, and she was named to the All-Tournament Team after strong performances in tournaments at Endicott College, Johnson & Wales University, Springfield College and Eastern Connecticut State University.

Despite playing only three years at PSU after transferring from Southern New Hampshire University, Stoodley ranks as one of the all-time leaders in Panther history.  She recorded 1,284 kills to rank fifth on PSU's career list, and she made 1,151 digs to wind up seventh on that list.  Stoodley became the fourth player in school history to register both 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs.

Plymouth State finished the season with a 15-18 overall record, and a 3-4 mark in the Little East.  The Panthers were knocked out of the LEC Tournament in the first round.
