PSU Women’s Volleyball drops pair at Endicott Inv.
Panthers fall to Endicott and Roger Williams
BEVERLY, Mass. – The Plymouth State University women's volleyball team suffered a pair of losses in their first two matches of the season Friday evening at the Endicott College Invitational, falling to the host Gulls of Endicott and Roger Williams University in a pair of four-set matches.
The Panthers won the first set in each of their matches, but could not maintain their timing the rest of the way. PSU edged Endicott in the first set, 26-24, before falling by scores of 25-11, 25-14 and 25-16; and followed with another 26-24 verdict in the opening set against Roger Williams, only to drop the next three sets, 25-15, 25-14 and 25-15. Endicott finished the evening with a season record of 1-3, while Roger Williams remains undefeated at 6-0.
Senior Kaitlyn Tedeschi (Pascoag, R.I.) led the w ay for the Panthers, registering a team-high nine kills against Endicott and 12 kills vs. RWU. Junior Jana Nieman (Fair Lawn, N.J.) contributed nine kills in the two matches, and freshman Mikki Taffe (Sandown, N.H.) combined for seven kills. Sophomore setter Kirsten Perrotta (Hudson, N.H.) finished the evening with 51 assists.
The Panthers will play two more matches at the Endicott Tournament on Saturday, facing Williams College at 10:00 a.m., and Sage Colleges at 2:00 p.m. There are eight teams competing in the tournament.
