Panthers fall to Bowdoin and Endicott
BEVERLY, Mass. – The Plymouth State University women's volleyball team suffered a pair of losses in their first two matches of the season Friday evening at the Endicott College Invitational, falling to Bowdoin College and the host Gulls of Endicott in a pair of three-set matches.
The Panthers fell to Bowdoin in the opener by set scores, 25-20, 25-16, and 25-19, and dropped the match to Endicott in similar scores, 25-20, 25-14, and 25-19. Bowdoin also swept Roger Williams University to start the season 2-0, while Endicott is now 2-1 on the season.
The Panthers were led in the Endicott match by junior setter Kirsten Perrotta (Hudson, N.H.) who finished with a near triple-double as she posted six kills, 20 assists and 14 digs on the evening. Senior Jana Nieman (Fair Lawn, N.J.) was also impressive as she logged six kills and two aces on the match. The Panthers' freshman libero, Brenna Peruch (Cave Creek, Ariz.) provided as much help as she could for her team as she picked up a match-high 18 digs in the loss.
The Panthers will play two more matches at the Endicott Tournament on Saturday, facing SUNY Canton at 10:00 a.m. and Babson and 2:00 p.m. There are eight teams competing in the tournament.
