Nieman honored by New England Women's Volleyball Association
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State University senior Jana Nieman (Fair Lawn, N.J.) was among 34 athletes selected to participate in the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) Senior Classic, the NEWVA office announced Thursday.
Nieman will compete in various skills competitions and the Senior Classic Match with 33 other members of New England's top NCAA Division III volleyball programs. All players were selected by a vote of participating member head coaches following the nomination process.
Plymouth State's lone senior, Nieman was an offensive force for the Panthers in 2014. She led the team with 257 kills, averaging 2.36 kills/set, and was second on the team with a.175 attack percentage for the season. She finished her career with 672 kills, good enough for 10th place on Plymouth State's all-time leader board. Her 2,132 attack attempts are also the ninth highest total in program history.
The NEWVA Senior Classic will take place at the Clark Athletic Center at UMass-Boston on Sunday, December 7. The skills events begin at 9:30 a.m. with the Senior Classic Match scheduled to start at noon.
