Panthers #15 in fourth regional poll
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University women's volleyball team dropped one spot in the most recent release of the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) Regional Poll.
The Panthers held the #14 ranking in the third weekly poll released last week. After a 2-1 week with wins against Worcester State and Framingham State, and a loss to LEC-foe UMass Boston, Plymouth State dipped one spot to #15.
The top five teams in the poll remain unchanged from last week. Johnson & Wales, ranked #14 in the national poll, tops the region, receiving all eight first place votes while earning 120 points. Tufts held steady at the second spot with 108 points, with MIT, ranked #15 in the national poll, taking third in the regional poll with 107 points. Wesleyan (91 points) and Babson (88 points) made up the remainder of the top five. Wellesley (79 points), Roger Williams (73 points), Springfield (68 points), Bowdoin (55 points) and Middlebury (46 points) round out the top ten.
Endicott is at 11th with 45 points. Clark, who the Panthers will face at home this Saturday, is 12th with 30 points, with Coast Guard (25 points), Keene State (7 points) and Plymouth State (6 points) closing out the top-15.
The Panthers (16-8) are back in Foley Gymnasium for a pair of matches on Saturday. PSU will open the day with a 12:00 p.m. Little East Conference match against Western Connecticut, before squaring off with Clark at 4:00 p.m.
NEWVA's Regional Poll is conducted by the NEWVA Poll Committee, comprised of representatives from each of the conferences in New England. The poll is released on Wednesday's and is based upon all results through the previous Sunday.
