Sporer, Bailey tabbed to compete in Senior All-Star game

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State University seniors Claire Sporer (Medford, Ore.) and Megan Bailey (Canterbury, N.H.) were among the 30 athletes selected to compete in the annual New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) Senior Classic game.

Participants were chosen by a vote of participating member coaches representing NCAA Division III women's volleyball programs throughout New England, following a nomination process.

Sporer and Bailey will both compete on Team Grey in the All-Star match, which will be held on Sunday (Dec. 3) at Emerson College.

Players will compete in various skills challenges starting at 10:30 a.m., leading up to the game at 12:30 p.m.

A 5-6 outside hitter, Sporer was a two-year captain. Despite playing her freshman year at Pacific University (Ore.), she finished seventh in program history with 834 career kills and 2,633 career attempts, while averaging 2.70 kills/set for her career, the ninth-best mark of all-time.

A 5-6 setter, Bailey led the team to a 39-22 mark as a starter over the last two seasons. She ended her career with 2,122 assists, the sixth highest in program history. The five setters above her were all at least three-year starters. Bailey also finished sixth in career assists/set (7.86).

The Panthers ended the year with a 19-11 record. PSU fell to eventual LEC Champion UMass Boston, 3-1, in the tournament semifinal round.
