Flanagan named Defensive Player of the Week

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – After helping lead the Plymouth State University women's volleyball team to wins over Regis, Salve Regina, and St. Joseph's (L.I.), senior Alisha Flanagan (Milton, N.H.) has earned Little East Conference (LEC) weekly recognition by being named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Flanagan totaled 53 digs, averaging 4.42 digs/set, to spark the PSU defense in a 3-0 week. She notched 18 digs and added three aces in a 3-1 win over Regis on Thursday, then picked up a career-high 27 digs and a pair of aces to help Plymouth erase a 0-2 deficit in Saturday's 3-2 win over Salve Regina. She added a match-high eight digs in a sweep of St. Joseph's (L.I.) to close out the week.

Through PSU's first 15 games, Flanagan has amassed 213 digs, second-most in the Little East, while averaging 4.10 digs/set, a mark that is good enough for fourth-best in the conference. Her 26 service aces lead the Panthers and are tied for fourth-most in the league. Her strong play in the backrow has been crucial to the team's strong start.

PSU (14-1) has a busy week, with four matches on the slate. The Panthers head to St. Joseph's of Maine on Tuesday (Sept. 24) for a 6:00 p.m., before hosting games on Wednesday (Sept. 25) and Saturday (Sept. 28). Plymouth State is currently on a five-game winning streak.
