Flanagan named Rookie of the Week

            PLYMOUTH, N.H. – After helping the Plymouth State University women's volleyball team extend its winning streak to 12-straight matches with a 3-0 week, freshman Emilee Flanagan (Milton, N.H.) has earned Little East Conference (LEC) weekly recognition by being named the Rookie of the Week.

            Flanagan had 25 kills and hit .396 while adding nine blocks and a dig to help Plymouth State to a wins over Southern Maine on Wednesday and a pair of victories over Worcester State on Homecoming Saturday, claiming the honor for a second straight week.

            Flanagan opened the week with posted nine kills (.381 pct.) and three blocks in a sweep of Southern Maine on Wednesday, helping the Panthers improve to 2-0 in conference play.

            On Saturday she pounded down 11 kills (.348 pct.) and added three blocks as the Panthers topped Worcester State in four sets in the opening match of the day, then capped the week with five kills and three more blocks while hitting .556 as PSU swept the Lancers, 3-0, to wrap up the double header.

            Flanagan has made a significant impact on the PSU offense. Through her first 22 games, she is hitting .289, second highest on the team, and averages 1.92 kills/set. Her 0.68 blocks per set are also the second-most among the Panthers.

            Plymouth State (21-1, 2-0 LEC) is riding a 12-match winning streak and has eclipsed the 20-win mark with a full four weeks left in the regular season. The Panthers will put the streak on the line at UMass Boston in another LEC contest on Wednesday (Oct. 9), before returning home for a pair of matches on Saturday (Oct. 12). PSU will host Rhode Island College (12:00 p.m.) in conference play before hosting Bridgewater State (4:00 p.m.) to close out the tri match in Foley Gymnasium.
