Title: Assistant Coach

Sarah Spears joined the Plymouth State women’s volleyball coaching staff in the spring of 2012.  A 2009 graduate of PSU, Spears anchored the defense as the most successful libero in program history.  She led the team in digs in three of her four seasons and her 2,148 career digs are the program’s top mark.  Her 174 career aces are good enough for 8th place in the PSU record books.

Spears’ backrow play was instrumental in guiding the Panthers to their only ECAC Championship in 2008, being named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after amassing 55 digs in three tournament matches.  During her career she was named LEC Defensive Player of the Year once, while also being awarded multiple Defensive Player of the Week honors and All-Academic awards.

Spears has previous coaching experience with the Lakes Region Juniors volleyball club and currently teaches 4th grade at Monroe Consolidated School.
