Brett Sayer was named interim head coach in November of 2017 after serving as the top assistant coach during the 2017 season.
Sayer joined the Panthers staff in the spring of 2017 and had an immediate impact working primarily with the defense. He helped guide the Panthers to a 19-11 mark and a trip to the Little East Conference semifinals, where PSU fell to eventual champion UMass Boston in four sets.
Prior to joining the PSU staff, Sayer enjoyed a successful eight-year stint as head coach at nearby Colby-Sawyer College. He led the Chargers to five-straight North Atlantic Conference (NAC) titles from 2011-15 and his teams went a combined 54-5 in NAC play, garnering him four-time NAC Coach of the Year recognition.
Sayer has previous coaching experience at now defunct St. Joseph’s College (Rensselaer, Ind.) and Westminster College (New Wilmington, Penn.) and got his start as a student-assistant at the University of New Hampshire.
Sayer graduated with a B.A. in English from UNH in 2004 and was a four-year member and three-time captain of the men’s volleyball club team.
