Tedeschi, Gaudette recognized for Panthers
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two Plymouth State University fall sports student-athletes were honored by the Little East Conference Monday for their performances in Panther uniforms last week.
Senior Kaitlyn Tedeschi (Pascoag, R.I./Burrillville) was named LEC Women's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, and junior Evan Gaudette (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North) was selected the LEC Men's Cross Country Rookie Runner of the Week. It is the first career LEC weekly recognition for both individuals.
A 5'9" middle hitter, Tedeschi posted an attack percentage of .338 while averaging 2.67 kills and 0.33 services aces per set last weekend to lead PSU to a 3-1 record and third place at the Plattsburgh State Tournament. She had zero attack errors in three of PSU's four matches, including a high of 14 kills in a win over Cazenovia College. She also tallied 12 blocks and 12 digs in the tournament, averaging one per set.
The Panthers, 4-4, will play their first home matches of the season this Saturday when they host Rhode Island College (11:00 a.m.) and Worcester State University (2:00 p.m.) at Foley Gymnasium. The RIC match is also the Little East Conference opener.
A 5'6" junior, Gaudette turned in a solid performance for the Panther men in their inaugural varsity race at the University of New England Invitational. He completed the 4.6 mile course in 28 minutes, 43 seconds, crossing the finish line in 18th place among the 123 runners. Gaudette led PSU to an eighth-place finish among 15 teams in its debut.
The Panther runners will compete again this Saturday at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Invitational.
