PSU Men’s Cross Country places third at UNE Invitational

Brunnette, Bartlett post top-five finishes for Panthers

            BIDDEFORD, Maine – Sophomores Sam Brunnette (Newport, Vt.) and Warren Bartlett (Loudon, N.H.) posted top-five finishes Saturday morning to lead the Plymouth State University men's cross country team to a third-place finish at the University of New England Invitational.

            Brunnette finished runner-up among the 154 runners in the 8,000 meter race, covering the course in 26 minutes, 15 seconds. Bartlett was not far behind, taking fifth place in a time of 27:17.

* Both Brunnette and Bartlett finished in the top five in the race for the second straight year, dropping about a minute off their 2015 times.

* Other scorers for PSU included junior Brendan Polichronopoulos (Penacook, N.H.), 22nd in 29:26; freshman Noah Byington (Hanscomb AFB, Mass.), 25th in 29:32, and sophomore Casey Real (Georgetown, Mass.), 35th in 30:24.

* PSU moved up one spot from last year's fourth-place finish.

* The race winner was Damon Kilgore of Gordon (25:35), the reigning national athlete of the week.

* The race was PSU's season-debut
