Three Panthers earn accolades for performances at KSC Invitational
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Three Plymouth State University cross country runners received weekly recognition from the Little East Conference Monday, rewarding them for their performances at the Keene State College Invitational last Saturday.
Sophomore Sam Brunnette (Newport, Vt.) was named LEC Men's Runner of the Week, and freshmen Noah Byington (Hanscomb AFB, Mass./Bedford) and Molly Ingram (Wolfeboro, N.H./Brewster Academy) were selected Men's and Women's Rookie Runners of the Week, respectively. Brunnette is a three-time recipient this season of the Runner of the Week honor, while the other two are first-time selections.
Brunnette captured the individual title at the Keene State Invitational Saturday, his first career victory. He finished the five-mile course in 25 minutes, 42 seconds, averaging 5:11 per mile. Brunnette ran in a group of four runners for 4.5 miles before making a decisive move and pulling away for a comfortable victory among the 78 runners in the race.
Byington placed 20th overall at the Keene State Invitational, finishing the five-mile course in 27:49; He was PSU's third-best finisher and helped the Panthers to fourth-place in the eight-team event.
Ingram placed 10th overall among the 73 women's runners at the Keene State Invitational. She covered the 5K course in 20 minutes, 10 seconds, leading PSU to a third-place finish among seven teams.
PSU has regular season races remaining at Westfield State University and Emmanuel College the next two weekends, leading up to the Little East Conference Championships on Oct. 29.
