Panthers recognized for work in the classroom
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University men's and women's cross country teams have been recognized for their work in the classroom as well as on the running trail.
Plymouth State's men's and women's teams, led by head coach John Ostler, were two of 389 teams that were named All-Academic Teams by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Of those 389 teams, 216 were women's and 173 were men's.
For a team to be considered for this distinction, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum team GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale. PSU's men have a 3.24 team grade point average while the women are at 3.47.
PSU was one of only two schools from the Little East Conference, along with Eastern Connecticut State University, to have both genders represented.
Both the Panther men and women placed fourth at the 2016 Little East Conference Championships. The men's squad finished 26th out of 56 teams at the NCAA Regionals, while the women were 32nd out of 59.
