Two PSU Cross Country runners earn LEC honors

Bartlett, Bowles recognized as Runner/Rookie of the Week

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – After a strong showing at the Charger Open hosted by Colby-Sawyer College, two members of the Plymouth State University cross country team were recognized by the Little East Conference (LEC) with weekly honors.

Senior Warren Bartlett (Loudon, N.H.) was named the LEC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, while freshman Kim Bowles (Wonalancet, N.H.) earned LEC Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week honors.

Bartlett kicked off the 2018 campaign in style, finishing first to lead Plymouth State to the men's team title. His time of 15:48.40 was more than 10 seconds better than the next closest finisher, and nearly 40 seconds faster than the next fastest collegiate runner.

In her inaugural collegiate race, Bowles topped the field to lead PSU to the women's team title. She finished the 5k race in 20:43.90, just ahead of a pair of teammates as the Panthers took the top three spots.

Both teams are off for a week before competing at the Corsair Classic at UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, Sept. 15. It will be the first opportunity for each team to race against LEC competition. The men's race kicks off at 11:15 a.m., with the women starting at 12:00 p.m.
