Brunnette and Bowles earn weekly recognition again
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – With yet another set of impressive performances on the course, a pair of Plymouth State University cross country runners have earned Little East Conference (LEC) weekly honors again.
Senior Sam Brunnette (Newport Center, Vt.) was selected as the LEC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week and freshman Kim Bowles (Wonalancet, N.H.) was chosen as the LEC Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week following their performances at the 23rd Annual James Earley Invitational on Saturday.
Brunnette earns his third Runner of the Week honor after capturing the top spot on Saturday. His time of 25:08.60 was nearly 20 seconds ahead of the next closest finisher and was his second individual title of the year. In three races this fall Brunnette has two first place finishes and one second.
Not to be outdone, Bowles picked up her third Rookie of the Week award after placing 28th at the Earley Invitational. Her time of 19:45.83 was the fastest among Little East freshmen and the fifth fastest among all LEC runners.
Both teams will compete at the Bowdoin Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 13), with the women's race starting at 11:00 a.m. and the men's at noon.
