Bartlett and Bowles named Runner/Rookie of the Week
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Following an individual title and program record performance, a pair of Plymouth State University cross country runners have earned Little East Conference (LEC) weekly honors.
Senior Warren Bartlett (Loudon, N.H.) was selected as the LEC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week while freshman Kim Bowles (Wonalancet, N.H.) was chosen as the LEC Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week after strong showings at the Bowdoin College Invitational last weekend.
Bartlett picks up his second Runner of the Week honor after grabbing the individual title on Saturday. His time of 25:47.6 was nearly 20 full seconds faster than the next closest competitor. Bartlett's second title of the season helped Plymouth State to a third place finish in the team standings.
Bowles extended her fabulous rookie campaign by setting a new program record for a 6K race. Her time of 23:59.0 was two full seconds better than the previous record time and was good enough for a seventh place individual finish, as the Panthers ended up third in the team standings. It is Bowles' fourth Rookie of the Week honor.
Both teams will take a weekend off as they prepare for the LEC Championships at Bryant University, hosted by Rhode Island College, a week from Saturday (Oct. 27). The men's race begins at 2:00 p.m., while the women are set for a 3:00 p.m. start.
