PSU student-athletes earn Little East Conference weekly honors

Rhodes, Seidner honored in Softball; Stockman in Lacrosse; Rosario in Track & Field

            PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Four Plymouth State University student-athletes were recognized Monday with weekly recognition from the Little East Conference (LEC) for their performances in Panther action last week.

            Senior Emma Rhodes (Rochester, N.H./Spaulding) and sophomore Hannah Seidner (Pembroke, N.H.) were named LEC Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively; sophomore Kyle Stockman (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) was selected LEC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week; and freshman Eric Rosario (Methuen, Mass.) was tabbed the LEC Men's Rookie Track Athlete of the Week. The awards were made as the spring softball and lacrosse teams wrapped up the regular seasons, while track and field competed last week at the conference championships.



            A 5'3 second baseman, Rhodes batted .636 (7-for-11) with multi-hit performances in three of PSU's four games. She collected two doubles, two runs scored and four RBI in a 3-1 week for PSU (all LEC games) as the Panthers clinched a share of the LEC regular season championship and the top seed in the conference Tournament. Rhodes went 2-for-3 in both games Thursday as PSU split a doubleheader against Keene State, and she was 2-for-2 in the opener and 1-for-3 with a double in the nightcap Saturday as PSU swept an LEC twin bill from Rhode Island College. Rhodes is now sixth in the LEC with a .391 batting average.

            A 5'1 pitcher, Seidner posted a 2-0 record with a 1.91 earned run average in a 3-1 week for PSU (all LEC games). She earned a victory Thursday against Keene State, pitching six innings and allowing just one run on five hits and a walk, striking out one, and she recorded a win over Rhode Island College Saturday, going five innings and giving up two runs on 10 hits, striking out four. Seidner improved her season record to 6-2 with a 2.63 earned runs average and two saves in 29 appearances.


Men's Lacrosse

            A 6'0 face-off specialist, Stockman won 36 of 54 face-offs (.667) and picked up 19 ground balls in a 1-1 week for PSU. He dominated the face-offs Wednesday in a win over Southern Maine, winning 21-of-24, and took 50 percent (15-of-30) of the face-offs in Friday's loss at Western Connecticut. He grabbed a game-high 13 ground balls against Southern Maine and picked up six at WestConn, also a game high. Stockman leads the LEC with a .597 face-off winning percentage.


Men's Outdoor Track & Field

            A freshman sprinter, Rosario won the LEC title and placed third in the New England Alliance in the 400 meter dash at the Little East and Alliance Championships last Saturday at Westfield State. Rosario lowered his own school record in the 400 meters with an LEC winning time of 48.94 seconds. His performance is the eighth fastest time in New England this spring and ranks 46th nationally. Roasrio will compete with his teammates at the New England Division III Championships this weekend at Williams College.
