PSU Women’s Basketball player earns All-LEC honors

Conant voted to Second Team for second straight year

            PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The leading scorer from the Plymouth State University women's basketball team earned Little East Conference (LEC) recognition as the league announced its major awards winners and all-conference teams on Tuesday afternoon.

            Senior Jess Conant (Canton, Maine) was voted to the All-LEC Second Team following a vote of the conference's nine head coaches.

            Conant finished third in the Little East in scoring, averaging an even 16 points per game, while shooting 45.8% from the field. She was 12th in the league in steals per game (1.6), 15th in the conference in rebounding (5.0/gm) and her 1.7 assists per game ranked among the top 30 in the LEC. She also shot a career high 79.4% from the free throw line (100-of-126).

            In the Panthers 89-87 double-overtime win over regionally ranked University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Feb. 9 she played 47 minutes, scoring a game-high 22 points while going a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line. She added nine rebounds, four assists and three steals as PSU pulled off an incredible upset.

            Conant was named LEC Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 11 after shooting 50% from the field and making 16-of-19 free throws to score a game-high 26 points in a win over New England College.

            She ends her career with 909 points to finish 15th on Plymouth State's all-time scoring leaders chart.           

            Plymouth State closed the season with a 10-14 record and 4-12 mark in the LEC under fourth-year head coach Allison Flynn. The ten wins were the most for the program since the 2009-10 season.
