Conant to represent Panthers among New England's top seniors
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The top scorer from the Plymouth State University women's basketball team was one of 23 women selected for the 2019 New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star Classic, the league announced on Wednesday.
Senior Jess Conant (Canton, Maine) will represent the Panthers in the all-star game, playing for Team White. Conant will be joined by athletes from St. Joseph's College, Curry College, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Western Connecticut State University, Eastern Connecticut State University and Emmanuel College. The game will be hosted by Springfield College on Saturday, Mar. 23 with tip-off set for 1:00 p.m.
Conant enjoyed a strong senior campaign for the Panthers, garnering All-Little East Conference Second Team for the second straight year after finishing third in the LEC in scoring with a 16.0 point per game average. She also was among the league leaders in steals per game (1.6), rebounds per game (5.0) and assists per game (1.7).
She wrapped up her career with 909 points to finish 15th among Plymouth State's all-time scoring leaders.
Plymouth State closed the season with a 10-14 record and 4-12 mark in the LEC under fourth-year head coach Allison Flynn. The ten wins were the most for the program since the 2009-10 season.
