Lloyd tabbed Offensive Player of the Week
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State University sophomore Mallory Lloyd (Hartland, Vt.) was named the Little East Conference (LEC) Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week following an outstanding performance in a pair of wins over the weekend.
Lloyd scored four goals and added an assist to lead the Panthers to impressive wins over UMaine Farmington and Northern Vermont University Lyndon.
The Panthers kicked off the new season with a strong, 5-0 win at UMaine Farmington on Friday. Lloyd tallied a pair of goals, one to close the first half and one to open the second half, as PSU rolled to the win.
In the home-opener on Saturday, Lloyd and the Panthers were even more impressive in an 11-0 dismantling of NVU-Lyndon. Lloyd picked up an assist in the fourth minute when she fed senior Kate Martin (Westmoreland, N.H.) for the game's first goal, then increased the lead to 3-0 in the 19th minute. She settled a ball driven from 35 yards out, then flicked it to the bottom left corner for the score. She added her second goal of the game in the 70th minute.
Lloyd had a similar quick start to the season a year ago, when she also registered four goals and an assist against the same two opponents.
Plymouth State is off until Saturday (Sept. 8), when the Panthers travel to Roger Williams for a 12:00 p.m., non-conference game.
