Bagley, Greineder set school records at David Hemery Valentine Invitational
BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Eve Bagley (Holliston, Mass.) and sophomore Claire Greineder (East Greenwich, R.I.) each set program records as the duo represented the Plymouth State University women's indoor track & field team at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University on Friday afternoon.
The non-scoring meet featured top collegiate athletes representing all three NCAA Divisions from throughout the country and Canada, as well as several amateur athletes competing for various track clubs or running unattached.
David Hemery Valentine Invitational – No Team Scoring
How it Happened:
- Bagley finished second in her section of the 800m run with an impressive performance. Her time of 2:24.92 was just shy of three seconds faster than her previous best ran just last month. She finished 186th out of 261, topping a number of Division I and II athletes in the process.
- Greineder ran among 242 competitors in the 400m dash. She finished in 58.77 to win her section and place 80th overall, topping her own record from two weeks ago by more than two seconds.
Straight From the Coach's Mouth:
"It's easy to go to a place like BU, with its reputation of being a fast track, and expect good times to be handed to you," said head coach John Ostler. "Both Claire and Eve saw this as an opportunity that they still had to work for. My advice to both of them before their races was to deemphasize time and just compete to win your heat. They did that and the times took care of themselves."
- The full squad looks ahead to the Little East Conference Championship meet next Saturday (Feb. 22) at the University of Southern Maine.
