Morgridge Strength & Performance Lab
Fieldhouse Rd.
Holderness, NHÂ 03245
Â
The lower level of the University’s Human Performance Center is home to PSU’s new 16,000 square foot Morgridge Strength and Performance Lab. The $4 million project to transform the old field house facility space into a state-of-the-art strength and performance lab was the final piece completing the Human Performance Center.
The newly renovated space includes significant upgrades to infrastructure, including top-of-the-line sports performance flooring, new electrical, plumbing, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning. The area houses 24 exercise platforms, treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bikes and separate areas for free weights and plate-loaded equipment. Additionally, a new 45-yard long strip of artificial turf will be used for rehab and speed training.Â
Â
Overseen by Director of Strength and Conditioning John "JT" Thomas, the lab is utilized by all 25 varsity sports teams as well as students within the Health and Human Enrichment cluster. The facility increased the previous weight room square footage by nearly tenfold, increasing the benefits to students and student-athletes while transforming the University's service to the community through the open laboratory interface.
Â
PSU students planning on strength and conditioning careers will have many opportunities to team up with their athletic training, exercise and sport physiology, and doctor of physical therapy peers while utilizing the space.
The facility is named in recognition of the generous support of John '85 and Carrie Morgridge. Through the work of the Morgridge Family Foundation, they exemplify their commitment to making a difference through education on the global scale, which is felt right at home here at John's alma mater.
